The original Primitive methodist Chapel was erected in 1639 on Lower Moor Road, paid for by public subscription. In 1901 it had become too small for the growing congregation and a fine new chapel was built on the adjoining plot of land. The old chapel became known as the School Rooms where Sunday School and other classes were held.
Both chapels have now closed and been transformed into residential properties. See the renovated Ols School Rooms below:
